History Of Khushab


Khushab is a combination of two Persian words "Khush" meaning sweet or tasty and "aab" meaning water. A common belief is that the Persain invaders, from the west, first used the word "Khush-aab" in admiration of the sweet and tasty water found in the historical city situated on the bank of Jehlum River. With time the city started to be known as Khushab. It is very interesting thing that presently Khushab is famous due to its high flying sweet "dhoda".

“Khushab” is a historical city of Pakistan. Now Khushab is a District of Punjab, situated between Sargodha and Mianwali, near river Jhelum. Its Calling Code is 0454. Time Zone is PST (UTC+5). Khushab owns mountains, deserts, luxuriant green harvesting land, lakes and river. Khushab is not only rich in natural resources (salt & coal) etc. Khushab is land of spiritual personalities who reform the people of Khushab. Soil of Khushab has been blessed with spiritual personalities like “Hazrat Badshahan Sahiban (R.A.), Hazrat Molana Muhammad Ismail (R.A) and Hazrat Molana Basheer Ahmad (R.A.) etc.  
People of Khushab are very hardworking and most of them are associated with farming and agriculture. Khushab is also known for its delicious sweets specially “DHODA” and “PATEESA”. Heavy Vehicles (Trucks) body-makers of Khushab are famous in all over the country.  
Neighbor major cities are Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakher, Jhelum, Chakwal, Jhang. “Wadi-e-Soon” is one of the most beautiful hill stations of Pakistan.There are three beautiful lakes (Ochali, Khabbaki, Sodhi Jay Wali) and a beautiful Garden called Kanhatti Garden near Khabbaki village. Here is a very biggest forest in Soon Valley area.
